Biography

I’m a composer, clarinettist and electronic effects artist based in London, writing contemporary classical work for a small, amplified band of clarinets, Aerophone, synths, drum machine and live electronics. My music sits in that colourful space where chamber writing and electronics meet, using looping, beats and evolving textures to push the clarinet into territories it doesn't often venture.

Right now I’m focused on building a body of repertoire for a core group of close collaborators: a clarinet trio (with players who also double on flute), Aerophone, synths and guitar, plus drum machine, percussion and MIDI keyboards. I write with specific people in mind, treating the ensemble like a flexible lab where tight notation sits alongside space for live interaction and electronic processing.

As a group, we’re a mix of queer and queer‑allied, neurodivergent and ethnically diverse musicians, including players with roots as far away as the Philippines, and that mix of identities and experiences feeds into the energy and stories behind the music. The project is as much about building a space where everyone can bring their whole selves to the stage as it is about the sound world we create together.

Live electronics are an essential part of the setup, including pedal‑based processing with tools such as Quad Cortex, and the use of Ableton Live as a performance instrument in its own right. These elements let me reshape acoustic sounds in real time, layer grooves, trigger patterns and blur the lines between fixed tracks and live playing on stage.

My background as a clarinettist, Aerophone player and educator feeds directly into this writing: lines are crafted to feel good under the fingers while still asking the players to move into new sonic territory. I’m particularly interested in textures where acoustic clarinets and Aerophone lock in with synths and drum machines, creating vivid, rhythmically driven pieces that feel at home in concert halls and more informal venues alike.
